Did you know?

Although Ocean Ranger One is a work of fiction, like any good fiction it is based in fact.

Points which are raised in the story are perfectly valid. Human daily life does rely on fossil fuels, and they will run out at some point. If we can reduce our reliance on these fuels, it could have an enormous effect.

Every time we switch off a light that doesn't need to be on, we reduce the amount of unsustainable fuel we burn. The same goes for every time we walk, cycle or use public transport to get somewhere instead of taking our own cars. When we do this we also reduce the amount of pollution which burning that fuel releases into the atmosphere. If we could find an alternative to our existing dependence on fossil fuels, the world could be a better place.

Ocean Ranger One is powered by hydrogen. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe (by a long way). Water is made out of hydrogen and oxygen. Whilst Kate Cowdell's omega drive is something Paul made up, it could well be that using hydrogen is, perhaps, the way forward. Who knows, maybe somebody reading this will be the one to make the great breakthrough.
